1998 – NOW

In 2001 the group acquired the Gobbi shipyard, which now produces open engine yachts between 10 and 18 meters long under the new Atlantis Collection. An important shipbuilding hub is to be developed around the shipyard, over a surface area of approximately 200,000 sqm. Once running at full capacity, the Itajai shipyard will produce around 100 yachts per year, offering the customer from Brazil – today considered the most promising emerging market for luxury yachts – an attractive range of six yachts: four models up to 80 feet long, and two models between 80 and 100 feet in length.

In the autumn of 2004, the Group, which had become Azimut Benetti S.p.A. in 2003, also look over Fraser Yachts: sophisticated and innovative services were introduced to make life trouble-free for yacht owners. Also in the early 2000s, and also for those who sail the seas, came another bright entrepreneurial insight: making marinas that are not just berthing areas, but veritable tourist centres.

The marinas in Varazze, Viareggio, and Moscow have already been built, and the Livorno project is on his way. In 2007, the Group was given the "Champion of Growth" and "Best Performer" awards by the confederation of Italian industries, Confindustria The accolade went to the Italian company that had posted the greatest average growth rate in the five years from 2001 to 2006, in terms of both quality and quantity.

The Group ranked first among the 497 companies with an annual turnover of between 100 and 1000 million euros. But the Group's success went well beyond the business scene in Italy when Azimut Benetti became the world's largest megayacht building company, according to the prestigious ranking of the American ShowBoats International magazine.

And it has topped the list for twelve years in a row. Run by Paolo Vitelli and a dynamic group of managers, the Azimut Benetti Group is now a highly successful business venture that is recognised the world over. And one that represents the best in Italian style and excellence .
